What is a Tiny House?

Different than a mobile home, cottage or cabin, a tiny home typically has a living area, sleeping loft, kitchen and bathroom arranged in a layout that optimizes both space and efficiency.

A Tiny House is typically

  • Less than 500 square feet
  • Designed to optimize space and efficiency
  • Not a permanent structure (can be moved)

Benefits of Living Small

Traditionally, Tiny Homes were associated with off-the-grid hippies and mountain men. However, Run Amok has found that today, Tiny Homes appeal to a vast variety of individuals, couples and even families looking to live a simpler, happier lifestyle.

People choose to build and live Tiny for the following reasons:

  • Seeking a simpler, "less is more" lifestyle and opportunity for personal transformation
  • Financial freedom from rent and big mortgage payments
  • Opportunity to own a first or second home
  • Environmentally sound living
  • More time for adventure and travel without the responsibilities of caring for a large home
  • Design opportunity to create a beautiful "nest"

“Before tiny, there was an unhappy marriage, unpaid bills, stifling office work, a home of 2,500 square feet or more; after Tiny came freedom, new love, debt relief, self-employment, and, of course, a handmade nest."

Design & Atmosphere

Tiny Homes may be small, but they are mighty. Instagram and Pinterest are filled with stunning, beautiful tiny homes that inspire. Before building, its important to think about your own style and ideal space.

Cost & Pricing

The national average cost of a Tiny Home is around $59,000. However, there are options than range anywhere from $25,000 to $200,000. At the end of the day, there are lots of things to consider and living costs are determined by:

  • Tiny Home Structure (Size, quality, chosen appliances and fixtures)
  • Tiny Home Delivery (Tiny Homes are built on-site or off site and shipped after completion.) Delivery costs vary depending on transportation distance and weight. The average delivery cost is about $2,000.
  • Land (Where will the Tiny Home go?)
  • Utilities (Gas, Water and Electricity)
You'd be surprised how effective it can be to just include a warm, smiling photograph of yourself. Or maybe you wouldn't be so surprised. Maybe you just don't surprise easily. Or maybe you're just incredibly wise. Yes. That must be it. Wise and warmly smiling. What a winning combination.
